2021 Sauvignon Blanc
For the past six vintages, the Clark Family has crafted a Sauvignon Blanc from vines off the historic Rutherford Bench. The site is located in the former Napa Riverbed, creating a rocky and mineral-rich home for the vines. This unique terroir helps to create a style of wine that is more reminiscent of a Loire Valley Sancerre: crisp, clean, lean and with great acidity.
2021 was a warm, sunny growing season that ripened gently. Drought conditions produced low yields and spectacularly concentrated fruit. The grapes were handpicked in mid-September 2021 and the fruit cold-settled in stainless steel. From the tank, the juice was moved into neutral, French Oak barrels where the wine fermented for two weeks. The barrels were then racked and the wine was placed in neutral French Oak to age for seven months. This vintage has bright aromas of honeydew melon and lemongrass, with a pallet of apricot, tropical fruits and zesty minerality.
