Originally created for the 2018 vintage, the CXR, Complexity Reserve (previously known as our Reserve Blend) has become a favorite of family, guests and staff alike. Starting as an experiment using Eddies favorite barrel of each varietal we grow (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot), the wine showcased how unique each individual barrel could be and therefore, each flavor. Blending these top barrels together, our first vintage became known as our Four Barrel Blend and was only poured for members at the winery for a few weeks. So well loved, 3 vintages later we are continuing to make this amazing wine.

The 2021 vintage will be remembered for low yields with intensely-flavored, small-sized berries and a smooth and uneventful harvest season. The season started off with very little rain, leading to the 2nd year of drought conditions ensuring fruit from the season would be tiny and packed with color, tannin and flavor. The calm growing season ushered the grapes to phenolic ripeness, without compromising either aromatics or acidity which lead to elegantly structured wines.

Comprised of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot in 100% new French Oak for 22 months, this wine is deep, inky and exemplifies the land it was grown on. Aromatics of lilac, pomegranate and cedar lead the way to a vibrant powerhouse of plum, black cherry, caramel and granite. Open a bottle now, or later, and it will be sure to impress.
